Law/Section: Employees' Provident Funds Act, 1952
A savings scheme for your retirement where both you and your employer contribute 12% of your basic salary.
Tip: Always check your EPF passbook online to ensure your company is actually depositing the money.
- Employer MUST contribute if company has 20+ employees.
- You can withdraw PF for marriage, house construction, or medical emergencies.
- UAN (Universal Account Number) allows you to transfer PF when you change jobs.

Gratuity Payments
Law/Section: Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972
A lump-sum amount paid by the employer as a thank-you for your long service.
- Mandatory if you have completed 5 YEARS of continuous service.
- Calculation: (15 days' salary) x (Number of years worked).
- Payable even if you resign or retire.
