    Law/Section: Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000

    You have a Fundamental Right to a 'Quiet Sleep' under Article 21.

    Tip: If a neighbor or temple/mosque is too loud after 10 PM, dial 100 and record the noise on your phone as evidence.

    • No loudspeakers or public address systems allowed between 10:00 PM and 06:00 AM.
    • In residential areas, the daytime limit is 55 dB and nighttime is 45 dB.
    • The police MUST act on a noise complaint; they have the power to seize the equipment.

    Fact: If you feed dogs, do it in designated spots away from common entrances to avoid 'nuisance' complaints.

    • Feeding street dogs is NOT a crime. It is protected under Article 51A(g) (Compassion for living creatures).
    • Dogs cannot be 'relocated' or removed from their area; they can only be sterilized and returned.
    • RWAs cannot ban pets in lifts or parks; they can only set reasonable timings.

    Law/Section: Section 270 BNS (formerly Section 268 IPC)

    Any act that causes common injury, danger, or annoyance to the public is a 'Public Nuisance'.

    • Dumping garbage in front of your house is a criminal offense under BNS.
    • Blocking a public road or sidewalk with construction material is illegal.
    • You can file a complaint with the Municipal Commissioner or a SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate).
