BNS Section 140: (1) Kidnapping or abducting in order to murder, etc (Legacy IPC Section 364)

Kidnapping or abducting in order to murder
- Bailable Status: Non-bailable (Bail can only be granted by the Judiciary)
- Cognizable Status: Cognizable (Police can arrest without warrant)
- Triable Court: Court of Session
- Official Punishment: Imprisonment for life, or rigorous imprisonment for 10 years and fine
Kidnapping for ransom, etc.
- Bailable Status: Non-bailable (Bail can only be granted by the Judiciary)
- Cognizable Status: Cognizable (Police can arrest without warrant)
- Triable Court: Court of Session
- Official Punishment: Death, or imprisonment for life and fine
Kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person
