Fact: The SC has recognized that animals have the right to live with dignity and free from unnecessary pain.
- No Abuse: Beating, kicking, overloading, or torturing any animal is a punishable offense.
- No Abandonment: Abandoning a pet in a way that causes it suffering or hunger is illegal.
- Wildlife Safety: Killing or harming wild animals is a serious crime under the Wildlife Protection Act.

Feeding Without Fear
Law/Section: Article 51A(g) / SC Rulings
Compassion is a Constitutional duty, not a crime.
Tip: If someone harasses you for feeding dogs, cite the 'Delhi HC vs Animal Welfare Board' judgment which protects feeders.
- Right to Feed: Citizens have a legal right to feed street animals. No RWA or neighbor can stop you from doing so in your area.
- Protection from Harassment: Harassing or threatening an animal feeder is a criminal offense under the BNS (formerly IPC).
- Designated Spots: RWAs and local authorities should ideally designate specific 'feeding spots' to maintain harmony.
